Plenary Sessions’ Programme

Each conference day features a vital and diverse mix of plenary sessions, poster and oral presentations and networking events.

Our Plenary Sessions put the focus on resilience and highlight the topic from various angles. Get a sneak peak of our exciting programme below or explore the full conference agenda:

Plenaries 5 and 6: Improving Country Risk Management

Large scale natural and human-induced disasters generate considerable human and economic losses. With slightly different perspectives, OECD, EC, and UNISDR are currently supporting a number of countries in risk management review processes. The Plenary Session 5 will provide insight into the techniques of the different review approaches and highlight the value of peer learning, whereas Plenary 6 will focus on sovereign risk management strategies and on risk financing to cope with the adverse financial and economic consequences of disasters.

Plenary 7: Navigating Urban Resilience: A Social-Ecological Approach

The quest for urban sustainability and sustaining human civilization has become greater than ever before. Urban environments are densely coupled social-ecological systems featuring an intricate and complex phenomenology of risks, e.g. physical, assets and infrastructure related, technological, and financial and, very importantly, social and ecological ones.

And many more…

Volkstoenen - Musical Highlight

The opening ceremony of the IDRC Davos 2016 comes up with a special musical delight.

The Swiss composer and conductor Julia Gloor created an exceptional piece: Volkstoenen (engl. “traditional tones”) combines classical music and instruments with old Swiss traditions in an unusual way.Instruments such as wooden spoons, dulcimer (Swiss zithers) and cowbells provide new tones within the classic music and open new horizons.Have you ever heard cowbells ringing to an outstanding opera tenor?

Celebrate with us the 10 years anniversary of our IDRC Davos. Spend an unforgetable evening with amazing music, interesting speeches and the occasion to network with artists, speakers and guests.
